Dean
Dr. Cletos Garatsa is the Dean of the Faculty of Commerce, Innovation and Technology at the Catholic University of Zimbabwe (CUZ). Dr. G as he is affectionately known joined the Catholic University in 2022 rising through the ranks due to his hard work, commitment and burning passion for identifying and developing future leaders. He is a holder of a PhD in Management Sciences (Durban University of Technology; South Africa), Master of Business Leadership (MBL) (University of South Africa business school), and an array of professional qualifications including Education and Project Management, Dr. Garatsa combines industry and academic experience to chart a new path for the faculty to be at par with world renowned universities. A combination of academic rigour and more than 15 years of industry experience makes Dr. Garatsa a highly sought after consultant and academic. As a seasoned peer reviewer and researcher, with special interest in emancipating SMEs and capacitating future leaders, Dr. Garatsa has published papers in international journals and made presentations locally and internationally. Since its inception in 1999, the Faculty of Commerce, Innovation, and Technology (FCIT) has been at the forefront of excellence at the Catholic University of Zimbabwe. Chairperson – Department of Business Management and Innovation The Chairperson of the Department of Business Management and Innovation at the Catholic University of Zimbabwe (CUZ) is a distinguished academic and finance professional whose extensive academic and professional background spans accounting, economics, financial engineering, business administration and education. With a strong passion for business, finance and the development of future leaders, the Chairperson brings a multidisciplinary perspective to teaching, research and academic leadership. The Chairperson holds a Master of Science Degree in Financial Engineering from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST), a Master of Accountancy Degree and a Master of Business Administration Degree from the University of Zimbabwe (UZ), as well as a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) Degree in Accounting from Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) Degree in Economics from the University of Zimbabwe. Complementing this extensive academic foundation is a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the Catholic University of Zimbabwe and the full CIMA professional qualification from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA UK). Currently pursuing a Doctorate in Business Leadership at Midlands State University (MSU), the Chairperson continues to deepen their expertise and contribute to the advancement of business education, leadership and research. Their academic journey reflects a commitment to lifelong learning and to equipping students with the knowledge, analytical skills and professional competencies required to navigate an increasingly complex business environment. The Chairperson's research interests include Tax Compliance Behaviour and Econometric Modelling, with a particular interest in understanding economic and behavioural factors that influence decision-making and financial outcomes. Mr. Morgen Tandavara
Chairperson
Chairman – Department of IT & Innovation, Mr. Morgen Tandavara is an experienced Information Technology educator, academic leader, and technology professional serving as Chairman of the Department of IT & Innovation at the Catholic University of Zimbabwe. He brings extensive expertise in computer science education, information technology, systems administration, networking, information systems, and cybersecurity, with a particular interest in the role of technology in education, institutional development, and community transformation. In his leadership role, Mr. Tandavara contributes to the development of the Department of IT & Innovation by supporting academic excellence, promoting innovation, and encouraging the practical application of information and communication technologies. His professional experience enables him to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world technological challenges, preparing students to participate effectively in the rapidly evolving digital environment. He holds a Master’s Degree in Computer Science Education from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) and an Executive Diploma in Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation from the Catholic University of Zimbabwe. His other qualifications include a Bachelor of Education in Computer Science from Midlands State University, a Bachelor of Technology in Education Management from Pretoria Technikon, a Diploma in Information Technology from HEXCO, a Professional Computer Competency Certificate from HEXCO, and a Certificate in Education from the University of Zimbabwe. Mr. Tandavara teaches Computer Security, Data Communication and Networks, Systems Administration, and Management Information Systems. His teaching approach emphasizes both sound academic foundations and practical skills, enabling students to understand, manage, and apply technology in professional and organizational settings. His research interests include Cybersecurity, Information and Communication Technologies, Community Development, and Politics. Through these areas of interest, he explores the impact of digital technologies on society, education, governance, institutional effectiveness, and sustainable community development. Mr. Tandavara is a member of the Computer Society of Zimbabwe and the Higher Education Lecturers Association. His commitment to professional development, academic leadership, and technological advancement continues to support the growth of students and the wider university community.
